Wedding bands in Atlanta are plentiful - - so what do we have to offer
that sets us apart from the rest?
EXPERIENCE!
Wedding Receptions - "What the Band Sees" by Craig Gleason, Band Leader, Powerplay Band
The Powerplay band has played hundreds of wedding receptions over the past 10 years, learning a great deal about human nature - and what makes a great party - in the process. As the bandleader, I have enjoyed so many weddings that I decided to write down a few thoughts, facts and anecdotes that you can use as you plan your own wedding reception. I have also included links to our favorite and most trusted friends in the wedding industry, and also a suggested wedding reception song list.
GET THE PARTY STARTED
Since the job of a wedding band is to get everyone up and dancing all night long, the wedding reception song list must get first priority. Our song list is regularly updated with songs that the majority of your guests will have heard and are guaranteed to respond to. Of course as musicians there are many other songs we would like to learn and play, but choose only to play songs that work well in a high-energy dancing environment.
Wedding reception guests are a lot like children. They might not realize it, but they want to be "led" where they need to go - which is ON THE DANCE FLOOR! The Powerplay Band uses its experience and creativity
to gently (but with purpose) motivate your wedding guests and family to join in and get the party started.
A FEW HELPFUL WEDDING TIPS
If the bride and groom are groovin' on the dance floor, then the party will follow. This is true 100% of the time. Your friends and family will be out there with you whether you like it or not.
A wedding band does not have to be as loud as a jet taking off to get the energy level up and running. What is necessary is to have professional sound equipment (and we do), and the knowledge to play, run and maintain the gear (and we have). The music should be loud enough for dancers on the floor to feel, yet soft enough for Grandma and Aunt Ritzi to carry on a conversation over in the corner.
If the wedding band has experience with all age groups (and we do), and can even play "Bob the Builder" and "Barney" for your 4-year-old niece (and we can), then people are going to be talking about your wedding reception for a long time. Plus, it creates an excellent photo opportunity!
A wedding band can help you locate good, qualified vendors to facilitate your wedding reception. If you need a place to hold your wedding reception, a photographer, videographer, etc., the band - if it has been around for awhile and has a good
reputation (and we do) can and should help. The Powerplay Band is a member of the Professional Wedding Guild in Atlanta, which keeps us "tuned in" to the best businesses in the wedding industry. Be sure to check out our wedding links.
It is YOUR party - and your wedding guests should be an active participant! The job of a wedding band, in the words of Roy Rogers, is to "round 'em up for ya!" The Powerplay band knows the importance of leadership and order. We will personally go out into the audience to announce your arrival, when it is time for your first dance, and even when it is time to cut the cake. We get everyone moving to the right place at the right time.
Your wedding reception will be a smashing success if you use the right wedding band - and we are! |
